sanjayl (Student) AUA places students at ACGME-accredited hospitals for clinicals which is what matters for your residency application. The affiliation list is on the website but it's worth calling the clinical department to confirm active sites.
tamika_roberts (Student) Different experience than sanjayl (Student) though. State licensing is where people get tripped up. California is tough for Caribbean grads. Some states want extra documentation on top of standard ECFMG certification. Check the FSMB website for each state you're seriously considering
yuki_augustin (Student) Adding to tamika_roberts (Student) point. My attending told me that ACGME accreditation of the rotation hospital matters more to residency directors than most applicants realize. Where you trained signals something about your clinical preparation.
bpierre (Alumni) I'm licensed in New York and had no issues. The ecfmg process was the slow part. Everything downstream went smoothly once my certification came through
kathleen_nelson (Student) Same experience as bpierre (Alumni) here. Start the FSMB verification process well before you actually need it. Those timelines are consistently longer than the estimated dates they give you
lingh (Alumni) Texas and Florida both have large IMG physician communities and manageable licensing requirements from what I know. Worth keeping in mind early if you have flexibility about where you practice.
