leahclifford (Alumni) MUA's premed program is a preparatory track for students who aren't quite ready for the MD program directly. It covers foundational sciences and helps you build the academic habits you'll need.
crawfordb (Alumni) Getting into premed is one thing. Doing well enough to advance into the MD program is another. Take it seriously from day one.
yuki.augustin (Student) Building on what leahclifford mentioned. The workload in premed is lighter than MD year 1 but don't coast through it. The study habits you build there carry forward. People who treat premed as an easy semester often struggle when the real program starts.
ktorres (Alumni) Talk to current students who went through the premed track before you commit. Their honest accounts will tell you more than any brochure.
brians (Student) Same experience as leahclifford here. Premed at MUA covers bio, chem, and physics at a level designed to bridge the gap from undergrad. If you did well in those subjects you might test out of some components. Ask admissions about placement.
bissessarz (Alumni) brians makes a fair point but my experience was a bit different. The goal of premed is to set you up for success in the core MD curriculum. If you approach it that way and use the time to genuinely strengthen your weak areas it's a useful year.
