wilsone (Student) Years 3 and 4 at SGU are your clinical years and you'll be based in the US or UK rather than Grenada. Third year covers core rotations including medicine, surgery, OB-GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatry.
lius (Alumni) Same experience as wilsone here. The transition from island life to clinical rotations in a US city is a bigger adjustment than most people anticipate. You go from a structured supportive environment to being largely on your own.
kenneth.menon (Student) Housing is your responsibility during the clinical years. SGU doesn't arrange it. Budget carefully because housing costs near good rotation sites in major US cities can be expensive.
helenliu (Student) Your Step 2 CK score during the clinical years matters more than most people realize going in, especially now that Step 1 is pass/fail.
jacobli (Alumni) wilsone covered the main points well. The elective rotations in fourth year are strategic. Use them to rotate at programs you're actually considering for residency. Getting known at a program as a visiting student matters.
barkera (Student) Keep detailed records of every evaluation, every shelf exam score, and every LOR request from day one of clinicals. That documentation becomes part of your residency application.
