ameliaharris6655 (Aspiring student) i think thats a fair challenge and honestly from inside the university i can say the palade connection is taken seriously here. there are references to him in the curriculum especially in histology and cell biology courses. but beyond just name dropping him, what i think matters more is what kind of intellectual environment produced him in the first place. when he was a student at carol davila he was deeply influenced by professor francisc rainer in anatomy and also by the biochemistry teaching there, and he has said himself that he was drawn to research over clinical practice from early on because of that environment. so it was not a coincidence that someone of his caliber came out of this place. the question is whether that culture of taking basic science seriously still exists and i think you can argue it does given the current research output.
