I want to build the strongest possible profile over the next couple years, not just for US schools but as a competitive international applicant too. GPA, prereqs, volunteering, shadowing, research, ECs... where do I focus and how do I balance it all without burning out? Looking for a realistic game plan.

rameshchandra6622 (Alumni) foundation first. GPA and your science prereqs are non-negotiable. Nothing else compensates for a weak academic record, it's the gate everything else passes through. Get strong grades in the core sciences before you stack on a million activities. A solid GPA with focused, meaningful extracurriculars beats a mediocre GPA with a resume full of shallow involvements every time. Build the academic base, then add depth.

Clinical exposure is huge and often the weak spot for international applicants. Shadowing and any patient-contact experience shows you actually know what you're signing up for. Adcoms want proof you understand the job.

Quality over quantity for everything non-academic. Two activities you went deep in and can speak about with passion beat ten you barely touched. Depth tells a story, breadth tells nothing.
