honestly i was surprised when i saw masaryk sitting at 7th in the EECA rankings, like that is genuinely impressive for a school that doesnt get as much hype as charles university. The 430 global rank in QS 2026 is solid too, not top 200 but for a central european med school its respectable. tianajoseph2247 (Alumni) ok so i looked into this a lot before choosing between charles and masaryk. charles prague sits way higher globally, like around 200-something in QS, so the gap is real. but here is the thing, when i talked to doctors who graduated from masaryk and went to germany, most of them said the ranking barely came up in their recognition process. the czech medical degree itself is what gets recognized under EU directives, not your specific school rank

yeah this is exactly what i keep hearing. the EU automatic recognition thing applies to both charles and masaryk equally so for going to germany or austria, the ranking difference is kind of irrelevant on paper. where it might matter is if you are trying to get into a super competitive research fellowship or something where name recognition plays a role

for north america it gets more complicated though. i am trying to go the IMG route to canada and the advisors there look at whether your school is listed in the WHO directory and passes ECFMG standards. masaryk checks those boxes. the QS ranking doesnt really come up in that conversation at all tbh, what matters more is your MCCQE scores and clinical hours
