bpierre (Alumni) Nevis is a small island, smaller than most Caribbean medical school locations. That actually works in your favor for focus during basic sciences. Less distraction than on islands with more developed tourism.
jacksonr (Student) The cost of living on Nevis is lower than on larger islands. That matters when you're budgeting for two years of basic sciences on a medical school salary of zero.
ciaraa (Alumni) Getting to Nevis requires a connection through St. Kitts, either by ferry or a short bridge. It's not logistically difficult but it adds a step to every trip home.
taylorr (Student) The small community means you know your classmates well by end of first semester. That has real advantages for study groups. It also means there's nowhere to hide if you're falling behind.
finn_atkinson (Alumni) Same experience as jacksonr here. Nevis doesn't have a large expat or student community outside of MUA. If you need a lot of social variety during your basic science years think about whether that environment suits you.
kemi_bello (Student) Same experience as finn_atkinson here. The island is genuinely beautiful. That matters more than people admit when they're researching schools. You're going to live there for two years and environment affects mood which affects studying.
