sakuranelson (Alumni) SGU has UK clinical affiliates which is unusual among Caribbean schools. The exposure to NHS medicine is genuinely different from US clinical training and some students value that perspective.
jasonbissessar (Alumni) Adding to sakuranelson (Alumni) point. If you're planning to match in the US, US rotations should be your priority. UK LORs are harder for US residency programs to evaluate because they don't know the institution or the attending.
connora (Alumni) The administrative side of doing UK rotations through SGU takes longer to arrange than US rotations. Start the process earlier than you think you need to.
chanc (Student) For students interested in practicing in the UK eventually, the NHS exposure and the PLAB pathway become relevant. SGU has some infrastructure to support that route.
davisl (Student) Building on what chanc (Student) mentioned. The hospitals SGU works with in the UK are generally solid institutions. The main limitation for US-bound students is the LOR recognition issue rather than the clinical quality itself.
harutob (Student) I did a four-week elective in the UK through SGU. Clinically interesting but for my US residency application it added less value than my US core rotations did.
