marymartinez (Student) Gray's Anatomy for Students is lighter than the full Gray's and more practical for what first semester actually covers. Most upperclassmen I talked to used it over the brick version.
finn_atkinson (Alumni) marymartinez (Student) covered the main points well. For biochem, Harper's Illustrated is dense but covers everything the professor goes over. Find a used copy because the new edition prices are absurd.
alexis_crawford (Alumni) to what finn_atkinson (Alumni) said above. Don't buy everything on the list before you arrive. Wait until the first week and talk to second semester students. At least a third of books on any official list barely get opened.
ryanr (Alumni) to what alexis_crawford (Alumni) said above. Lippincott's Biochemistry has better explanations than Harper's for some people. Try both at the library before committing to buying.
chike.campbell (Student) The physiology course follows Guyton closely so that one you actually need. Everything else, wait and see what your professors actually use.
yuki.augustin (Student) What chike.campbell (Student) said is pretty much where I landed too. Check the student Facebook group and the forum classifieds before buying new. People sell the exact books you need for half price at the start of every semester.
