XUSOM students take NBME shelf exams during the basic science years which are good indicators of Step 1 readiness. Take them seriously from the start rather than treating them as just another school test.

bissessarp makes a fair point but my experience was a bit different. Remember that Step 1 is pass/fail now. That changes your approach. You still need to pass solidly but the pressure to chase a specific three-digit number is different from what older students dealt with.

Pathoma for pathology and Sketchy for micro and pharm are the two content resources that work best across the widest range of learners at Caribbean schools. Get both early.
