mannan (Alumni) The USMLE has three steps: Step 1, Step 2 CK (Clinical Knowledge), and Step 3. Step 2 CS was discontinued in 2021 so don't let older guides confuse you on that.
nancyw (Alumni) Adding to mannan (Alumni) point. For a Caribbean school MD degree you typically need to pass Step 1 and Step 2 CK at minimum to graduate. Step 3 is usually taken after you're in residency.
vikramscott (Alumni) Same experience as nancyw (Alumni) here. Step 1 is now pass/fail which changed how people approach it. The focus has shifted more weight onto Step 2 CK as the primary differentiating score in residency applications.
jose.zhang (Student) Some schools require Step 1 passage before students can advance to clinical rotations. Check St. Martinus's specific requirement directly with the school.
pamela.joshi (Student) ECFMG certification requires both Step 1 and Step 2 CK passage. That certification is what allows Caribbean grads to enter US residency programs.
jade.achebe (Student) The USMLE website is the authoritative source for current requirements since they do update. Don't rely solely on forum posts for anything this consequential.
