Which US hospitals does UMHS use for clinical rotations and how do you get placed?

hey guys, so i'm seriously considering UMHS and i keep seeing vague stuff on their website about "affiliated teaching hospitals in the US" but nothing concrete. does anyone have an actual list of the hospitals they use? and more importantly how does the placement process work? like do you get to pick or do they just assign you somewhere? any info helps honestly

alexg3302 (Student) ok so i went through UMHS and finished rotations last year. from what i experienced they work with hospitals mostly in the midwest and southeast. i did internal medicine at a community hospital in illinois and surgery at one in florida. they're not big academic centers like you'd see at US MD schools, mostly community and regional hospitals. the clinical coordinator assigns you based on availability and your schedule preference but honestly availability drives most of it. you don't get a ton of say.

alexg3302 (Student) i waited about 6 weeks after finishing step 1 before my first rotation started. honestly the community hospital experience was fine for learning the basics, attendings had more time for you compared to big academic places where residents barely notice you. but yes for competitive specialties it's not ideal and program directors can tell the difference on your app.
