can confirm what sunitarao6655 (Student) said from personal experience. i just finished my surgery rotation and the exposure was honestly beyond what i expected. we were in on complex laparoscopic procedures, saw trauma cases come through, and the surgical consultants actually explained what they were doing during operations rather than just ignoring the students standing in the corner. obviously not every rotation is perfect and some departments are better at involving students than others but overall the clinical environment feels serious and real. you are not just watching from a distance, at least not most of the time. the nursing staff and residents are used to having students around which makes a difference too.
